Be Kind To Your Mind Under Stress and Strain is designed to empower health and human service workers with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate workplace (and other) stress while nurturing their own well-being.

Your staff will be gently guided through the three phases of stress management:

  • Building understanding

  • Growing awareness

  • Nurturing responses

Building Understanding

The first step is understanding stress. The workshop will provide a comprehensive introduction to stress. This will include its impact on our minds, bodies, brains and behaviours.

Growing Awareness

Sometimes we can be unaware of our stress until it builds up and we collapse or explode. Awareness is an important element of stress management. We are all different, coming to stress from different places. Acknowledging our individuality in sensitivity, and response to stress is key to responding well to stress. This requires the development of an awareness of our own stressors and responses. Plenty of time, space and support will be given to participants to reflect on their current stressors and the signals their mind and body give them when under stress.

Nurturing Responses

Self-compassion will be introduced as a foundational skill for responding to stress. Other evidence-based strategies and skills for managing our mind, body and behavioural responses to stress will be introduced, practised and discussed.

Nurturing responses to stress will be placed in the wider context of self-care in the face of workplace complexity. Participants will have the opportunity to create individualised action plans, that will assist them to grow their awareness of stress and nurture their positive responses to stress.

Your staff will be equipped with the skills they need to effectively manage stress so that they can perform at their best
